Description
This is the left shoulder epaulette formerly belonging to Cdr (Acting Captain) Peter Hankey R.N. when Aide-de-Camp to Admiral Lord Louis Mountbatten in c1952/1953. In June 1952 Mountbatten became Commander-in-Chief Mediterranean Fleet & NATO Commander Allied Forces Mediterranean.
I purchased the epaulette from a friend of the son of Cdr Hankey about 20 years ago. The epaulette was made by Gieves prior to 1952 as it bears a Kings coat of arms and inscription'By appointment to His Majesty the King' (King George VI)
The epaulette is in very good used condition. Dimensions 7" x 5" x 3".
