Madagascar Triassic Fossil Fish Nodule Pteronisculus Cicatrosus

Description

A while back I was able to secure a lot of fossil fish nodules from Madagascar, with the only information was them being triassic in age. I was not given the formation and had to do my best to identify the fish. This Pteronisculus measures roughly 3.5 inches long (~9 cm) and includes both halves of the fish nodule. A neat feature of this nodule is the fact that the fish is preserved in a ventral position, showing the underside with the pectoral fins and gills quite nicely.
